Yes, we arrived home yesterday to Australia. The day before we arrived was 42 deg. C, but today is very mild.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day trip with Tien Tom Travel. We were of course keen to see the historic battle site at Dien Bien Phu and your choice of guide was excellent. Dung was able to explain so much detail to us, and answer the many questions we had about how the people lived in the mountains. Dung also rightly concluded that a massive new construction site at Dien Bien Phu is for a massive new museum, so you may well get more requests for road tours to the site where the French were defeated in the great battle. The journey to and from the battlefield site provided us with a unique insight into the Dhung peoples way of life, and we really appreciate that. In particular, we loved the tour that Dung took us on of his own village and later, his own home and that of his parents. We felt very privileged. Experiencing local life, sharing meals with them, going on the slippery-track (after recent rain) day walks and eating at homestays, seeing the raw side of life that is so often removed from our lives, was a great thing for us to experience. It made us question our own way of life. The tour took us to so many interesting food places, and me as a vegetarian was well catered for. (As a side note, we love it that we saw no American fast food places. We also noticed that there were virtually no fat or obese people on our travels.... a testament to the good quality of Vietnamese food.) A special thanks to the two guides we had...May Phield (?) and Dung. They were both excellent and shared so much of their life and their knowledge with us. They are certainly in the right profession in dealing with people and as guides.

Thanks for keeping in touch and regret that we couldn’t meet you in Sapa. Nonetheless, we really appreciate your lovely gesture.
We arrived in Singapore safe and sound last weekend.
We both agreed we made the right choice with TOM Travel. I must admit we did have some concerns initially as we just made the tour booking based on internet reviews. However our concerns came to naught when we saw Ms Sung waiting for us at Lao Cai station as arranged.
I would like to again commend on the services and professionalism of both Ms Sung and Mr Dung. They are both wonderful people and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Sapa.
