MEKONG DELTA DAY TRIP

With the limited time, spending one-day tour to visit Mekong Delta you can have an experience of life as well as people and beautiful characteristic on “the land of rivers”. The sprawling city of My Tho, located on the banks of the Upper Mekong River, is one the closest cities in the mighty Mekong Delta to Ho Chi Minh City. A leisurely boat trip will take you around the four beautiful islands known as Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise islands. Enjoy a rowing boat ride in the shadows of the water-coconut palms along the tiny canals of Ben Tre Province. Visit the picturesque orchards, sample the freshly picked fruit at the invitation of friendly local farmers, and listen to their traditional folk music – a special art in Southern Vietnam, which tell out the daily life of people in farming work and loving life. Joining in Cai Be Floating Market will help you get more knowledge of daily activities of local people in the South.
 
Itinerary:
 
Option 1: Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho – Ben Tre – Ho Chi Minh City (L)

 
Am: At 8.00 am, our guide and driver welcome you at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and have a smooth one-and-half-hour car/van ride through rice field scenery along National Highway 1 brings you to the beautiful rural district of Trung Luong. On the route transfer to My Tho City you have change to visit Vinh Trang pagoda which is the greatest pagoda of My Tho city, Tien Giang Province. About 1km from the city centre, this pagoda has an ancient southern architectural gem. The beautiful architecture of it is a harmonious combination of Asian and European types of architecture. Next, you will take a motor boat to enter My Tho City through Bao Dinh Natural Canal. Then have a visit to My Tho’s colorful street fruit market alongside the canal to soak up the lively atmosphere and watch the locals trade their produce. My Tho is also known as a prosperous town of 170,000 inhabitants in the Mekong delta It is famous for its extensive orchards and immense rice fields. Next, you go on taking a leisurely cruise on the Tien River to Tortoise Island. En route, view the fishing port, the traditional stilt houses and boat building workshops, and the other three evocatively named islands – Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn islands. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch served right in the heart of the orchard to the accompaniment of Southern Vietnamese folk music performed by the islanders.
Pm: After visiting the coconut candy mill, take an amazing rowing boat trip along the small canal. Then continue to Ben Tre Province, “the country of coconuts”, to see a typical agricultural model known as “Garden – Pond – Cage”. Enjoy a relaxing cup of honey tea before returning to My Tho via Tan Thach Natural Canal, cruising under the shadows of water coconut palms. Also is an opportunity to call on a family business, which is a sample of idyllic rural lifestyle. The driver takes you to return to Ho Chi Minh City. Drop you off at hotel and end of tour in Ho Chi Minh.

Option 2: Ho Chi Minh City -Cai Be Floating Market - Vinh Long – Ho Chi Minh City (L)
 

Am: At 6.30 am, our guide and driver will welcome you at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer you to Cai Be. On the road, you will stop to take photos in Tan An Town overlooking the picturesque flat rice fields. On arrival in Cai Be, you will set off by motor boat to visit the Cai Be floating market and watch the locals trading fruit and many other commodities on board their vessels. Then wander into the small villages to visit the orchard and fruit plantation. Keep cruising to Vinh Long through a series of small canals to experience the charms of the Upper Mekong Delta. Then you continue visiting a small family business to see how coconut candy and crispy rice popcorn are made. Arrive in Binh Hoa Phuoc Village, the green pearl of Vinh Long Town, where you can immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy a lunch of fresh river food served in the heart of the garden accompanied by traditional southern Vietnamese folk music.
Pm: After lunch, you will take a delightful walk through the bonsai garden. Then our guide and driver will take you to come back and drop you off hotel in Ho Chi Minh. Free to have your own dinner.
